Helping business leaders succeed through complexity, confusion and crisis
Are you a business leader looking to improve performance?
Are you finding that tried and tested approaches to management and leadership are no longer working?
Is your organisation struggling to keep pace with the demands placed on it?
Business leaders operate in a complex, unpredicatable and changing world. There doesn't seem to be time to do anything properly anymore. Perhaps you are regularly being asked to do more with less or are having to manage exponential growth. Either way, you want to take the organisation to a new level of performance and this needs to be put on a sustainable footing.
"Most of what we call management consists of making it difficult for people to get their work done." Peter F Drucker
Do you recognise any of the following in your organisation:
- Strategic plans are out of date as fast as they are written
- No one has time to implement new intiatives
- Managers and staff are busier than ever, yet nothing seems to improve
- The potential in the organisation is not being fully utilised
- There is a feeling of being overwhelmed by everything that is going on
- The organisation can't respond effectively to challenges or opportunities
- People are tired, stressed and disenfranchised
- The organisation is more fragmented than unified.
We need to change the way we view and lead our organisations...a paradigm shift
"Thus the task is not so much to see, what no one yet has seen, but to think what nobody yet has thought, about that which everybody sees." Schopenhauer
Actualise works with business leaders to address these types of problems and put the organisation on a sustainable performance improvement path. We work with business leaders to understand the deep patterns that are creating these challenges and identify approaches that will produce sustainable results.
Imagine this...
- There is sustained organisational improvement
- Organisational flexibility, adaptability and resilience is growing
- People self-organise to achieve important outcomes
- There is a strong sense of purpose in the organisation
- People want to come to work and contribute
How is this achieved?
- By grounding EVERYTHING in the organisations context, not ours
- By looking for what is working, not what is wrong
- By working WITH the culture and not trying to change it
- By finding the small things that are making the big differences
- By believing, absolutely, in the capability of all people
- By doings things quite differently
"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." Albert Einstein
If we continue to follow conventional wisdom in management, our organisations will never achieve the outcomes we expect. Our management theories are grounded in a science that was established 300 years ago, the mechanical age. We manage our organisations as though they are machines. We apply tools to them, hammer out problems and re-engineer them. In our efforts to drive efficiency and standardisation, we are crushing innovation and flexibility.
We have just about wrung out all the benefits of conventional approaches to management and it is time to expand our leadership models. We need to update our management paradigm and open our eyes to what is really going on in our organisations, not what we have been conditioned to expect.
